Common Questions

Answers to frequently asked questions about treatment and recovery.

The cost of attending rehab varies greatly depending on a number of factors. Insurance coverage can often cover a significant portion of treatment depending on the policy, deductible, etc.

Private treatment centers are facilities that only accept private pay (cash) and private insurance. These facilities typically cost $1000+/day to attend detox and $500+ for residential treatment. Again, private insurance may reduce that cost significantly.

For individuals without private insurance or the means to pay for treatment, there are a number of State-funded rehab centers that accept Medicaid/Medicare. Additionally, there are a number low-cost or free treatment centers throughout the US.

Yes, in the past few years many treatment facilities that have traditionally only treated substance use disorders have been licensed to treat mental health disorders as a primary diagnosis.

Historically, insurance providers would only allow someone to enter residential treatment with a primary diagnosis of substance abuse and a secondary diagnosis of mental health disorders.

Insurance companies now paying for residential mental health treatment has resulted in there being a number of offerings throughout the US to seek treatment. These programs are voluntary and completely different than entering a psychiatric hospital.

Because each treatment center has its own policy on electronics, its impossible to give a blanket answer. That said, there are definitely rehab centers that do allow some or all electronics.

Rehab centers that do allow cell phones and laptops may restrict the days and hours upon use is allowed. For example, electronics may not be allowed whatsoever during detox due to the intensive nature of that level of care. A facility that may allow cell phones may also only allow them during restricted hours (i.e a few hours each night on certain days of the week).

Depending on how long you have been at your current job, you may be eligible for the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

FMLA protects your job while on a leave of absence and does not require you to disclose to your employer the reason for your absence.

Additionally, you may be covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
