Substance Abuse In Nashua And Hillsborough County
Unfortunately, rates of substance abuse in Nashua and Hillsborough County are high.
From 2018 to 2019, New Hampshire was reported to have had the second-highest rate of opioid overdose deaths in the United States.
The good news is the deaths appear to be trending downward from 2019:
- In 2020, there were 180 opioid overdoses in Nashua, down from 266 in 2019. There were 19 fatalities, down from 35 in 2019.
- In 2019, there were 153 drug-related deaths in Hillsborough County, which made it by far the leader in drug-related deaths of all New Hampshire counties.
- However, as with Nashua, the number of drug-related deaths is trending downward. In 2018, Hillsborough saw 171 drug-related overdose deaths.
