Free Or Low-Cost Maine Rehab Centers

Maine has a significant substance abuse problem. Every year since 2012, Maine has seen a sharp increase in overdose deaths. In 2018 alone, over 400 people died as a result of substance abuse, which is higher than the national average, and many of those deaths were related to opioids.

One result of being one of the highest-ranking states in the nation for opioid overdose deaths is that the government is providing grants and funding for Maine to address the opioid problem. In addition to the state grants, four Native American tribes in Maine have received grant money to combat the opioid epidemic, and other social service groups are being allocated funds to help children struggling as a result of drug abuse.

The increase in funds means that some facilities will show an increase in free or low-cost substance abuse treatment, and some new locations may come available as money is distributed to different cities.

Offsetting the cost of treatment may increase the number of people seeking addiction rehabilitation services. This may also change the availability of some locations. At this moment, this is a list of available low-cost or free drug and alcohol abuse treatment facilities in Maine.
