Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center offers a diverse selection of treatment programs for adults ages 18 and older. The center’s holistic approach addresses needs of the mind, body, and soul through psychosocial educational groups, creative expression groups, and cognitive behavioral groups.

Levels of care include inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment options. The center’s detoxification program follows the 12-step model with a focus on medical care and helps clients transition to the next appropriate level of care.

Clients facing co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders may begin treatment in Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center’s dual diagnosis program, which treats acute withdrawal symptoms, strengthens internal and external support systems, and helps clients understand their disorders. The program provides a secure environment to stabilize and treat withdrawal while addressing dual diagnosis issues.

The day treatment program may be the next step following inpatient care. This program takes place Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Less intensive levels of outpatient care are also available.

Western Tidewater Community Services Board (WTCSB) was established in 1971 to help the people of Franklin and Suffolk overcome drug addiction. Along with substance abuse treatment, the facility offers prevention programs, dual diagnosis care, and developmental disability services.

WTCSB provides a person-centered approach to addiction recovery, incorporating each individual client’s unique needs and goals into their treatment plans. Counseling helps clients develop healthy skills to meet the demands of daily life and is available in individual and group settings. WTCSB also provides integrated care for people with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.

The facility’s Youth Substance Abuse Treatment (YSAT) program is specifically designed to help clients ages 16 to 25 facing substance abuse issues and their families. YSAT offers a 14-session treatment plan, providing CBT sessions for the client and the client’s caregivers.
