Ways To Access Free Drug Rehab In Wisconsin

Finding free drug rehab programs can be challenging if you don’t know how to navigate the healthcare options available to you.

Fortunately, there are two easy ways that you may be able to lower the cost of services or receive free treatment.

BadgerCare Plus

BadgerCare Plus is Wisconsin’s Medicaid health insurance program. Eligibility is determined based on your annual income and household size.

The state of Wisconsin offers this program to:

  • adults
  • pregnant women
  • children with specific needs

You can access coverage for drug rehab through BadgerCare health plans if you meet Wisconsin Medicaid requirements.

Federal Government Grants

SAMHSA’s Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services Block Grant gives each state an allotted amount to help fund addiction treatment programs and prevention efforts.

SAMHSA also offers funding through its Community Mental Health Services Block Grant for people with behavioral and mental health needs.

In 2023, the state of Wisconsin received almost $100 million in funding from SAMHSA.

State-Funded Rehab Centers

There are several state-funded rehab centers in Wisconsin. These programs are also for residents who cannot afford treatment or private insurance.

Are There Other Low-Cost Drug And Alcohol Rehab Options In Wisconsin?

If you or your loved one does not qualify for free treatment at a drug rehab center in your area, there are other ways that you can lower the cost of treatment.

Non-Profit Organizations

Non-profit organizations can offer addiction treatment at much lower rates due to their financial structure. These drug rehab centers are usually funded through a combination of grants and contributions, allowing them to offer treatment at a reduced cost.

Sliding Fee Scales

Sliding fee scales are a common tool used by drug rehabilitation facilities to provide affordable care to their community.

With a sliding fee scale, each person is charged according to their annual income. People who make less are charged less, allowing for broader access to treatment.

Payment Plans

Payment plans offer a way for you to spread out the cost of treatment over a longer time. By breaking up costs into installments, these plans make affording treatment more manageable.

FAQs About Free Drug Rehab Centers

When you’re looking for free drug rehab centers, you may have questions regarding different treatment types and program restrictions.

Below are answers to frequently asked questions regarding free drug abuse treatment.

There are free addiction treatment programs for pregnant women, as well as facilities that allow young children to stay with their mothers while they receive treatment.

These facilities are gender-specific and create a home-like environment where mothers can undergo treatment without being separated from their children.

Some rehab centers that offer free services may provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Often, methadone for opioid use disorder is covered by Medicaid, so rehab centers that are free through Medicaid acceptance can provide MAT.

Outpatient programs for addiction are offered in greater numbers in all states simply because they are less costly to fund and for clients to pay for.

However, outpatient rehab centers are not the only programs available. Inpatient treatment can be found at rehab centers throughout the state as well.

You may be eligible for free or low-cost inpatient drug rehab by:

  • using Medicaid or private health insurance
  • attending an inpatient facility that receives grant funding
  • attending a non-profit residential rehab center
