The Aroostook Mental Health Center (AMHC) Residential Treatment Facility is the primary long-term residential addiction treatment resource for northern Maine. It opened in its current form in December 2023 following a $1.7 million federally and state-funded expansion that relocated and enlarged the organization’s legacy “Farm” program in Limestone, which had operated since 1975. AMHC is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic serving the Aroostook County region with more than 60 years of continuous community behavioral health service.

About AMHC
The facility offers 30-to-45-day intensive residential treatment with 24/7 supervision, daily individual and group therapy, seven hours of structured group programming per day, relapse prevention, and CBT. There are also weekly Sunday family sessions that rebuild communication and support systems at home.
AMHC offers MOUD, including buprenorphine and naltrexone, and the electronics-free environment focuses on accountability, daily chores, life skills, and outdoor activity as foundations of recovery.
The program serves veterans, pregnant and postpartum women, trauma survivors, and those with chronic pain. It accepts Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, and private insurance, and has a sliding fee scale.
