As a lifelong resident of Malibu I have seen many treatment centers come and go, many are fly by night operations with little professional efficacy. I have also know many people personally who have struggled with addiction for a long time and seen them come and go through multiple rehab centers without lasting results only to relapse again and again. I spent twenty-two years as a firefighter and never thought I would end up in a treatment center. A back injury needing spinal fusion from the job led to pain medication that started as medical necessity and soon became something I could not control.
