What To Look For In A Rehab Center For Women With Children

Women who are mothers or have dependent children may face more barriers to seeking addiction treatment than other groups of people.

This can mean they have to look for drug and alcohol rehab centers with treatment options that meet their needs. For many, this means they do not go to treatment at all.

But drug and alcohol treatment programs do exist for mothers with children, and recovery is possible.

If you have children and are considering an addiction treatment program, look for a treatment center that offers:

  • residential accommodations (beds) for both you and your children
  • on-site daycare during your treatment sessions
  • additional resources, such as housing help, employment assistance, etc.
  • family therapy sessions, family involvement, and parenting classes if needed
  • customized treatment plans to help you achieve long-term recovery

FAQs For Treatment Centers That Accept Women With Children

The recovery program you choose will affect your recovery outcome. As you search for a rehab center that is right for you, you may have questions along the way.

Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions for alcohol and drug treatment programs that are tailored to women with children.

Depending on the rehab center you attend, the treatment program may be free, reduced cost, offer a sliding scale, provide private scholarships to those who qualify, or offer other payment options.

Many rehab centers accept insurance coverage for payment. However, private rehab centers may not accept insurance plans, while state-funded rehab centers may only accept publicly funded insurance, such as Medicaid.

When selecting a treatment center, one important question to ask is which type of insurance they accept.

That way, you understand what your out-of-pocket costs will be before beginning treatment.

The amount of time you will spend in a recovery program depends on you — your recovery progress, severity of alcohol or drug addiction, and other factors.

Some programs that are specific to women with children may only have an available bed/beds for a certain amount of time, which means your treatment program length may be limited.

If you are limited for your treatment stay, it may be a good idea to line up aftercare or continuing care to ensure you can continue your recovery journey and prevent relapse.

Each rehab center will vary in terms of treatment cost. Without insurance, a rehab program can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars per day for inpatient treatment to a couple thousand dollars per day.

Using your insurance program to cover inpatient drug rehab greatly mitigates your overall cost.

Find A Rehab Center For Women With Children

Rehab centers for women with children exclusively are not as common as other types of rehab centers, and the very best program for a woman and her child or children may be a short drive away.

Attending a rehab facility away from home also removes triggers that can make her crave her drug of abuse and can protect her privacy and the privacy of her family.

Though childcare is a priority, she should still consider that a rehab program located outside of her home city may be the best option for her.
