New York has several drug and alcohol abuse treatment options. Finding a location that meets individual needs can feel impossible. The following list includes information for free or low-cost New York treatment options.

New York Free Rehab Centers

Approximately 1,487 people died of an overdose in 2017 in New York City. Of that, over 82% of those deaths involved opioids (heroin, Vicodin, fentanyl, etc.). These statistics are key reasons why New York is well above the national average in deaths related to overdose.

Substance abuse is highly correlated with poverty and homelessness. These individuals are in desperate need of services and affordability has to be taken into consideration.

Additionally, the age that a person begins abusing substances has lowered, and many young adolescents are reporting abusing drugs and alcohol by age twelve.

New York state received a total of more than $222 million in federal funding to combat substance abuse in 2018. This is an increase of about $45 million from the previous year’s substance abuse funding.

Intervention methods, substance abuse treatment, inpatient, and outpatient services are becoming more readily available to combat drug and alcohol abuse poisoning New York. This list is not exhaustive, but offers some low-cost and free substance abuse treatment options in the state.
